Summary

The show opens with a teenage boy lying naked in the woods. As he awakens he looks at everything amazed. He meets a couple making out in a tent and then continues on. He makes his way to Seattle where of course he is picked up by police. He can't talk or understand them so they take him to a juvenile detention center.

Kyle learns how to do things like eat and drink by watching the people around him. One of the boys in the detention center, Skeeter, gets mad when Kyle is watching him and threatens to beat him up. Lou Daniels, one of the people in charge of the detention center stops him by explaining that Kyle doesn't understand him, therefore is not dissing him. This doesn't last long because as soon as they get out into the yard for rec time, Skeeter punches Kyle. Kyle is distracted by the fact that he needs to go to the bathroom badly. When he is punched, he pees his pants and all the inmates laugh at him.

Lou calls a psychiatrist friend of his to help with Kyle. This psychiatrist, Nicole Trager, decides to bring him home with her because she feels that he is special. He draws a picture of the couple in the tent and she is amazed at his ability. Lou and Nicole decided to call him Kyle because he reminds Lou of his brother Kyle. When Nicole says the name he looks up. One of the strangest things about Kyle is that he doesn't have a belly button. Lou and Nicole wonder how this could be.

The only problem with bringing Kyle home is Nicole's family. She has a teenage daughter, Lori Trager, and a slightly younger teenage son, Josh. Her husband, Stephen, says that its fine for a couple of days. Lori is a slightly promiscuous teen. We see scenes of her sleeping in bed with her boyfriend, Declan. She is saved from her mom finding out only by Lou's phone call. Both Josh and Lori give Nicole a hard time when she mentions bringing Kyle into the house. The discussion is ended when Stephen says that if Nicole says he's coming then he's coming and that's final.

When Kyle comes home he is amazed by everything. Everything is new to him. He starts playing on the computer as Stephen calls Nicole to see how things are going. Lori comes downstairs in only a towel and freaks out because Kyle saw her. As Stephen hangs up there's a news report about a girl who washed up on the shore with no memory of who she is. Could she somehow be related to Kyle?

Nicole has an emergency at work and so Lori has to watch Kyle. She gets a call from Hillary and gets absorbed in it. Kyle hears some piano music so he goes to find out where it's coming from. He is amazed by it and thinks it is wonderful. He wanders into a neighbors house and sees Amanda Bloom playing the piano. He is so moved by the music that he makes a small moan and Amanda turns and sees him. He runs away and hides in the bathtub.

While he is in the bathtub, Josh comes home. He goes to the bathroom, pulls out a girly magazine and gets ready to... well you know. Kyle looks at him and Josh notices him. Josh runs from the room, screaming, and drops the magazine on the stairs. Where his mom picks it up and takes it. Nicole introduces Kyle to Josh and asks Josh to let Kyle bunk down in his room. Josh almost complains until Nicole gives the rolled up magazine a slight shake. Josh agrees to avoid getting in trouble about the magazine. Nicole realizes that Kyle has been outside by himself and tells Lori she can't go to a party she has been looking forward to as punishment.

Kyle and Nicole head down to the basement where Stephen is working on a computer. Stephen realizes that Kyle can't understand what he is saying so he begins to talk and explain that the soldering iron is hot with strange hand movements and facial expressions. Kyle understands completely and wonders why other people don't express themselves as clearly.

There's a knock on the door and Nicole answers it. It's Carol Bloom and her daughter Amanda. Carol complains that Kyle broke into the house and snuck up on Amanda when she was alone. When Amanda tries to set the record straight, she is shushed by Carol. Carol continues to complain while Amanda and Kyle look at each other. You can see the connection between them. Carol notices it and hurries Amanda out of the house.

While the family is at dinner Kyle is thirsty so he says what he learned at the detention center. He says " Yo! Let's get some juice down here. SUP! Everyone taking stupid pills around here? JUICE ME!" (To see the clip see above) The family is amazed and want him to say something else. So, Kyle repeats what he heard Lori saying on the phone about a guy putting his hand down her pants. Lori is embarrassed but the family is more amazed at Kyle's abilities. Nicole tells how special she thinks he is.

Nicole and Josh take Kyle in to test his abilities. As they leave the house we see a mysterious man sitting in a red truck. Kyle finishes tests that should take hours in just a few minutes and gets them all right. Nicole decides to take him to get an MRI. The MRI shows that Kyle is using much more of his brain then normal people do. The Doctor tells Josh that that much hyper-activity would cause seizure and such. Josh looks up seizures online and tells Kyle if he is going to freak out don't do it in his room, call his mom. He also tells Kyle how he misses Charlotte, Miss Playpen, because his mom took his magazine away.

Kyle can't sleep so he goes downstairs to look around. He sees Lori leaving and follows her. She goes to a party where she sees Declan making out with another girl. Kyle gets something to drink and throws up. Hillary thinks Kyle is cute but Lori doesn't realize that it's Kyle she's talking about. The police get called after Lori is VERY drunk and people start scrambling. One cop catches Lori and Kyle walks though a set of glass sliding doors to help her. He has incredible reflexes as shown at the beginning of the show when he stopped the snake from striking. As the cop tries to arrest him he gets the cuffs from the cop. He then pulls out his baton which Kyle also takes. As the cop starts to go for him gun he thinks better of it and turns away. Kyle picks up Lori who has passed out and walks home with her.

When he puts Lori to bed he goes to Nicole and say's "I am Leaking" Josh looks around the house trying to find something that is broken that could have caused Kyle's bleeding but he can't find anything. Kyle asks Nicole what he is and she tries to explain what a human is but Kyle says "You don't know"

The next day Lori meets up with Hillary and learns that Kyle carried her home. She thought that is was a dream.

Kyle sneaks up on Nicole in the garden and she says that he scared her. He asks what scared is and she explains. He tells her that he is scared, so, she asks what scares him. He remembers the last few days and says "Everything" She promises him that things will get better and he says "Help me, Mom" She hugs him and promises to take care of him.

They go inside and Nicole tries to talk to Stephen. He is working on a computer. He is trying to get a friends family picture off a hard drive. Nicole wants to keep Kyle longer and Stephen says no, they have enough to worry about with their own kids. And continues to work on the hard drive.

Nicole checks with Lou to see if he has found a place for Kyle to stay. Lou says he can't find Kyle's file and doesn't have anywhere for him. As Nicole leaves we see the man in the red truck looking at Kyle's file.

After working for a long time Stephen finally get's the photo back only to spill coffee on the computer causing it to fry. Kyle sees the binary code for the photo, goes to the laptop and recreates the picture. Stephen is amazed.

Josh walks into his room and sees his magazine on the bed. He asks Kyle if he found it and Kyle says, "You said you missed her" Then they play a little basketball.

At the dinner table Nicole asks everyone if it would be ok if Kyle stays a little longer. Josh pours him some tea, Lori and Stephen put some food on his plate. All as a way of showing their support for him sticking around.
